1970 Dodge Dart Swinger 340 4spd
Well this is a neat project just in. It's an original 1970 4spd 340 Swinger finished beautifully in FC7 Plum Crazy Purple.

I know what you're all asking yourselves, what could I possibly be doing to such a nice looking car ?

Well stay tuned, because this car is coming apart!
Okay I've completely stripped the drive train out and everything off of the underside of the car. Over all pretty solid with the exception of the left front frame rail which has some rust.
Lot of seized bolts and worn out bushings, one odd thing was the rear axle rebound bumpers that crumbled when I removed them.
Now with the car safely tucked away for the Winter, and the holidays behind us, it's time to start taking apart the components. First up...The engine and transmission assembly
Clutch inspection...100% disassembly of front suspension...Original bushings were in terrible shape !
Eramosa Autobody made quick work of sandblasting all the parts, now it's time to get to work !
With new Lower Control Arm bushings installed it's time to get painting ! Once all the paint work and details are done I can start re-assembling....All new rear brakes installed first simplifies the rear end assembly.

That cosmoline on the control arms finishes off the "factory look"...
The guys at Dick's Transmission did a wonderful job of installing new bearings and seals in the stock 3:23 rear end. It will be good for another 40 years now !

I've got just about all the components finished for this car now, won't be long until I can re-assemble it in time for Summer cruising
Replaced the very rusty, filter-less, leaking fuel sending unit with a new reproduction piece. Added the missing gas tank pad and we're ready to go.

Also stripped the engine down and got it ready for the machine shop. Hopefully it just needs a little freshening up....Stay tuned...
With the transmission fully rebuilt by Dick's Transmissions, it was time to freshen up the outside and add all the details that would have been found on it when new.

It won't be long now.
Well I now have the car back at my shop for re-assembly. This car is very solid with only one odd rust area in the lower front driver's frame rail. I tackled that job first by cutting out all the old rust and welding nice new metal in.
I then undercoated the entire car to freshen it up and start the re-assembly.

Rear end first !
Just as it came out, it goes back in from the bottom...lickedee split !
Well with the drive train back in, the new 2 1/2 inch TTI Exhaust system installed, it's time to close the hood on another project. Ready for many more happy years to come ! Enjoy !
