1971 PLYMOUTH 440+6 Auto Cuda
This incredible 'CUDA440-6 belongs to a gentlemen from the Seattle Washington area. An all original numbers matching SHAKER car !
FC7 purple with white interior and the very cool rubber front bumper.
Wearing a 20 year old resto, it's time to bring this car up to today's standards. Follow along as I do a complete ground up restoration of this beauty.
Step One, as always, is to dismantle the car 100%, and place it on a cart in preparation for media blasting. Been a while since I've started with such a nice clean running, driving car.
Check out what it would look like without the large white bill board on the side. Gives it a nice "sleek" look I think.
With the interior out, I found most original floors with some average looking patch work that may have to be attended to. Lots of mouse turds too !
Also after pulling the rear glass I found some major rust that will definitely need to be addressed.
You never know what's hiding.....
No time like the present to start work on the components. With the body striped and waiting it's turn for media blasting I thought I would jump on some of the small stuff. Just check out the details on this stuff...Better then new !
Heater box is in rough shape, but I'll make it look like new again, and more importantly work like new !
The shell is stripped and off to ERAMOSA AUTOBODY for media blasting....Some rust issues already showing up.
In the meantime the seats are recovered, thanks to SCOTT DAVIS and look better then new inside and out !
Complete front suspension and steering ready to go. I allowed John Stuart Power Brake rebuild the factory standard steering box, better then new !
With a new shifter bezel from PG Classics this interior is going to look brand new !
Thanks Dick's Transmission, the 4:10 Dana will work as good as it looks !
Back from the media blasters. Just what I thought, lots of ugly patches, bondo worm holes and hidden rust. This once nice looking Cuda is going to require more metal work then first thought....No worries, Keith Sim will take care of all the problems in a flash !
The rear frame rail had lots of pin holes, thankfully Keith Sim can work metal magic and make them all disappear !
Keith has started the metal work. Starting up front working towards the back.
Front clip is done...moving on the the back end !
With the rear frame taken care of, it's time to move to the trunk floor, the extensions and then lastly the new AMD quarter panels in place. That finishes up the rear end.
Some more metal magic preformed by Keith Sim and the cross member is better then new !
Now with the front floor out we can see the shoddy 1980 repair work to the transmission cross member as well as more hidden rust. Yuck !
With all the metal work complete, seam sealer and sound deadener in place, it's off to Waterdown Collision where Max and his crew will tackle the body work and lay down some beautiful FC7 Plum Crazy paint !
Time to get back on the final components. Head & Block Specialties has rebuilt the original numbers matching engine, now it's time to give it a new coat of Hemi orange paint !
Ready for final paint at Waterdown Collision, won't be long now !
Absolutely stunning is the only way to describe the job the boys at Waterdown Collision have done this time. Truly a work of art !
Assembly is moving right along. Scott Davis has done an excellent job on the headliner as always!
Won't be long now. The car is really coming together nicely.
All done !
Car looks absolutely stunning !
The beautiful clean lines without the previously added billboards. The shade of FC7 purple brings back a true 70's feel.
